JOURNEY TO WESTERN CHINA

Process: I designed, developed and implemented all the imagery and typography using digital software.
Project: After spending six months in Western China, I was insprired to creat a website desing that visually captured the uniqueness of the culture and religion in that region. Traditionally, due to the drastic geographic, cultural, economic differences in Eastern and Western China, people often use a diagonal line to divide the country into two distinct parts. Eastern China is famous for its mild weather and prosperity while Western China has a more extreme climate, rugged landforms, and an underdeveloped economy. In order to express this sharp contrast, I choose to epmhasize the use diagonal lines as a design element for the whole website.
​Through the site, I shared my expereince by intergrating my photography of diverse landscapes and regional costumes, foods, religions with graphics and journal entries.
I wished to present the daily life of the citizens of Western China through my design, illustration and photography.
